Quake jolts Aceh

BANDA ACEH, Aceh: An earthquake measuring 4.4 on the Richter
scale jolted Indonesia's westernmost province of Aceh yesterday,
Antara news agency reported.

It quoted meteorology officials as saying the earthquake, with
its epicenter located in the Kutacane area, 300 kms from Banda
Aceh, struck at 7.32 a.m.

The officials said residents in the provincial capital Banda
Aceh, 350 km northwest of the epicenter, felt the tremor, but
added there were no reports of damage or casualties.
