Qantas, BA have new boss

JAKARTA (JP): Qantas and British Airways announced on Tuesday the appointment of John Campbell as new general manager to oversee the two airlines' joint operation in Indonesia.

The airlines said Campbell previously served as general manager for Qantas' operations in Switzerland and East Europe.

Campbell said in a statement he aimed to expand the two airlines' businesses in Indonesia and help promote the country's tourism sector by bringing visitors here.

Qantas currently flies direct from Jakarta to Sydney five times a week with connections to Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide. It also flies twice a week from Jakarta to Perth.

British Airways suspended its flights serving Jakarta in November last year due to worsening passenger demand. (cst)
