PWI plans new press center
JAKARTA (JP): The Jakarta chapter of the Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) is planning to build a press center.
Jakarta PWI chairman Tarman Azzam said earlier this week that the 14-story building would include a training and education center for journalists and a library.
He refused to disclose the estimated cost of the center.
He said there would be a floor for the association's secretariat, six floors -- with 4,000 meters of floor space -- for foreign press, two floors for the association, a possible press club, three floors for national and regional press, an auditorium with translation facilities and three parking lots.
Construction is due to start July 20. The building is expected to open in mid-1999. (01)
