PWI Jaya's office moves to Jl. Veteran

JAKARTA (JP): The secretariat of the Indonesian Journalists Association's Jakarta branch (PWI Jaya) will move to the Press Club building on Jl. Veteran 7C while the new Jakarta Press Center on Jl. Suryopranoto No. 8, Central Jakarta, is being built.

PWI Jaya's chairman Tarman Azzam said yesterday the office would move on Monday.

"The secretariat will stay at the Press Club building for between one and two years and wait for the completion of the new Jakarta Press Center, which is expected to have 14 stories," Tarman was quoted by Antara as saying.

He said construction of the Jakarta Press Center would be financed by the city administration.

After the completion of the new building, PWI Jaya will use a number of its stories together with several other social organizations, which have already moved to the Press Club building.

The Jakarta Press Center will be equipped with a press library, information center on Jakarta's development, journalists' education rooms, an auditorium and general offices, he said.

Tarman said that officials, of both foreign countries and local administrations, could utilize the auditorium for press conferences. (hhr)
