Punishment urged for subdistrict head
Legislator Zumarnis Zein has called on the city administration to punish subdistrict head of the Gambir subdistrict Duri Pulo for abuse of power.
The House of Representatives (DPR) member from the Armed Forces (ABRI) faction said Monday the subdistrict head had sold a plot of land formerly used as a garbage dump without prior consultation with senior residents of the area.
"This is a serious mistake. The garbage dump was built to serve the area residents' interests and should not be sold for any reason," said Zumarnis, adding that the decision of the subdistrict head to sell the garbage dump built by ABRI in cooperation with the area residents in 1979 could tarnish the image of the military's civic role.
Senior resident of Duri Pulo Chief Sergeant (ret.) Muhammad Sa'a said the hand over of the plot of land to a third party was conducted by the subdistrict head without consultation with the Village Resilience Council (LKMDK).
Sa'a said he had sent letters of protest to the city administration about the sale of the plot of land and garbage dump but that they fell on deaf ears. (has)
