Pulo Asem Mosque wins award

JAKARTA: Pulo Asem Grand Mosque in Pulo Gadung, East Jakarta, was named The Best Mosque in 2002 by the city administration in a competition to commemorate both the city's anniversary and Independence Day.

Hidayatullah Mosque in Setiabudi, South Jakarta and At-Taqwa Mosque in Kalideres, West Jakarta were the runners-up.

Governor Sutiyoso expected the mosques to work hard not only in religious affairs but also to pay attention to their neighborhoods in overcoming social problems, such as drug addiction. -- JP
