Publication workshop for students

JAKARTA: The AIDS Foundation on Wednesday held a two-day workshop for students on how to organize majalah dinding (publications on notice boards).

Mira Fajar Aviatri, the program coordinator of the AIDS Foundation, said that the workshop involved 56 students from 14 selected high schools in Greater Jakarta.

She said the workshop, which was being held on Wednesday and Friday, was aimed at making the students aware of the dangers of the deadly Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS), and encouraging the youngsters to take part in efforts to tackle them.

"Majalah dinding is very well-known among students. And I think it's an appropriate medium to disseminate information on HIV/AIDS," she said, adding that the workshop had been organized in accordance with the 2001 World AIDS Day, which will fall on Dec.1.--JP
