The efforts of PT Telkom (telecommunication company) to
anticipate the need for telecommunication facilities deserve our
appreciation. Besides servicing customers in various areas, the
company continues to install public telephones in various
strategic places. We may see more than one telephone is available
at a certain corner of the city. The company can, no doubt,
install lots of public telephone units, but the problem is how it
can maintain all the facilities.

We know that many units are not functioning. In Golkar's
office, for example, there are about five public telephone units,
but none of them works. As a result, the party cadres who are
participating in a current conference have complained about the
failures and cannot send messages to their families or their
regional offices. Therefore I call on PT Telkom to do something
about it.
