Public phones out of order

From Neraca

The state of public phones in Jakarta is not in keeping with the telephone company's current drive for better service and increased sales of new telephone lines.

Last week I used the public phone on the ground floor of the manpower ministry on Jl. Gatot Subroto. The machine accepted my phone card and after a few scratching tones started to reduce the number of pulsas while no connection was made. Had I not withdrawn my card the machine would have eaten up all the time on my card.

PT Telkom should have appended a notice on the phone saying that its was out of order. I have suffered similar losses at other public phones, e.g. the one at Cikini station. PT Telkom should inform the public where to lodge complaints when its card phones fail to operate properly.
