PTPN I expands estate
JAKARTA (JP): State plantation company PTPN I announced Monday it would expand its oil palm plantation in Aceh to 120,000 hectares by 2000.
Company president Budiono Arismunandar said in Cot Girek, North Aceh regency, that about 8,000 hectares would be established in Matangkuli, Sawang, Kuta Makmur and Lhoksukon districts in North Aceh regency late this year.
"Those areas are very good for oil palm plantation," Budiono told Antara news agency.
PTPN I currently operates 7,542 hectares of oil palm estates, 304 hectares of cocoa estates and a palm oil refinery in Cot Girek. (gis)
