PT Telkom makes errors

JAKARTA (JP): The Indonesian Consumers Foundation (YLKI) urged yesterday PT Telkom, the state-owned telecommunications company, to announce the errors made in counting the phone bills of customers whose number begins with 0251-55.

YLKI claimed that last August, the company made mistakes in billing calls from Parung, near Bogor, to Jakarta.

The air distance between Parung and Jakarta is 30 kilometers, so calls between the areas are local and not long-distance calls.

But PT Telkom bills collected from Parung customers listed Parung-Jakarta calls as long-distance calls and charged the customers accordingly, YLKI claimed

Therefore YLKI has again urged PT Telkom to:

1. Publicly announce the errors through local print and electronic media.

2. Send letters of apology to the customers affected.

3. Return the money to the customers who were overcharged. (bas)
