PT Pos releases VIP stamps

JAKARTA: State mail deliverer PT Pos Indonesia released new stamps on Saturday bearing the likenesses of President Megawati Soekarnoputri and Vice President Hamzah Haz.

Megawati signed a stamp to mark the official issuance of the new series. Only 300 stamps of each design are being issued.

Unlike normal postage stamps which are rectangular in shape, the VIP ones are five sided.

The new stamps were launched during a reception at the State Palace to celebrate the 57th anniversary of the country's independence.

Megawati's husband Taufik Kiemas, one of Hamzah's wives, Nani Hamzah, and representatives of veterans and independence fighters were present at the event. -- JP
