PT Pos raises int'l rates
BANDUNG (JP): State postal service company PT Pos Indonesia announced yesterday that it raised international postal and international express mail service (EMS) rates on April 15.
Public relations manager Hakim Roesamsi said the increase was necessary to adjust the prices to the sharp fall of the rupiah's value against the U.S. dollar.
Hakim added the rates varied according to destination countries.
The rate for documents weighing up to 250 grams to the United States is Rp 110,000 (US$15), and Rp 90,000 for commercial goods of the same weight. It formerly cost Rp 36,000.
Rates to Singapore for goods weighing less than 250 grams are Rp 60,000 for documents and Rp 85,000 for commercial goods, up from Rp 25,000 previously.
International postal packets weighing up to 0.5 kilograms to the United States by air are now Rp 95,000, from Rp 33,700. They cost Rp 45,000 to Singapore, from Rp 23,800 previously. (43/gis)
