PT Panarub clarifies

With reference to the article published in The Jakarta Post on May 3, titled Panarub workers rally for JPK on page 8, we would like to clarify as follows:

PT Panarub employs 11,000 workers and has two worker associations, namely the Association of Shoe Industry Workers (SPTSK) and the Association of Textile and Hide Workers (PERBUPAS).

SPTSK has the majority, with 9,000 members, and PERBUPAS fewer than 300 members.

As far as health allowance (JPK) is concerned, as demanded by PERBUPAS, we discussed the matter with SPTSK and agreed that the health allowance would be paid in December 2003. We even asserted that payment of the allowance could be made earlier, in September 2003, if all administrative matters could be completed.

In principle, PT Panarub has no objections with regard to JPK and its payment is only a matter of time.
