PT KAI reports more cable thefts

JAKARTA: State train operator PT KAI has reported the theft of three separate sections of power cable over the weekend.

"The loss of the cable has disturbed the operation of our trains," spokesman of PT KAI's Greater Jakarta division Ahmad Sujadi was quoted by detik.com as saying on Monday.

On Friday, a section of cable near the University of Indonesia railway station was discovered missing; then a section of cable linking Bukit Duri to Manggarai; then a section in Pasar Minggu.

Police and officers of PT KAI have no leads on the thefts.

Last month, a 600-meter cable on the Pasar Minggu-Bogor line was also stolen causing delays and the stranding of thousands of commuters.--JP.
