PT Dynaplast to make beer crates

JAKARTA (JP): PT Dynaplast announced yesterday that it has won a contract to produce beer crates.

Dynaplast president Tony T. Hambali said that his company will start with at least three plastic molding projects.

"The projects will increase our sales and strengthen our position in the plastic molding sector," he said.

Last year, the company's total sales grew by 60 percent to reach Rp 68.8 billion (US$29.27 million), of which 35 percent was derived from plastic package sales, 20 percent from plastic bottle sales, 20 percent from plastic components, and 25 percent from its subsidiaries' sales.

Despite the increase in raw material prices last year, its profit surged by 23.8 percent from Rp 8.4 billion in 1994 to Rp 10.4 billion in 1995.

Tony said that his company expects to gain a profit of Rp 13.5 billion this year from estimated total sales of about Rp 90 billion.

During the first quarter of this year, its sales reached Rp 19 billion. "Usually, we see lower sales in that period (the first quarter) due to holidays," he said.

Currently, the company has three plants which operate independently, producing plastic goods such as components, packages and plastic sheets.

The company has a 30 percent stake in PT Summitplast Interbenua -- a joint venture company with PT Sumitomo of Japan, which produces plastic components for the electronic and computer industries.

The joint venture company, which is 70 percent owned by Sumitomo, started operating its second plant early this year with an investment of $7.5 million.

Dynaplast also has a 51 percent stake in PT Rexplast. (13/08)
