PT Dharmakarya Raharja clarifies

Referring to the article in The Jakarta Post on May 15, 1997, called New fees on foreign employers criticized, we would like to inform you that the article was not entirely true.

We want to make the following points:

1. Members of Apjati (Indonesian Association of Suppliers) have to pay an initial fee of Rp 5,000,000.

2. They also have to pay a contribution of Rp 10,000 for every Indonesian worker sent abroad.

3. Domestic agencies also pay workers insurance, Astek/Jamsostek, for workers sent abroad.

4. Since April 1997, domestic agencies have to pay a protection fee of US$45, for Indonesian worker working in Malaysia and Singapore.

5. The protection fee is borne by Yayasan Sumber Daya Manusia (Foundation of Human Resources).

6. Domestics guarantees are valid after three months, starting from the day of departure of the worker.

7. Beside being insured in Indonesia, the domestic workers are also insured by their employers abroad.

We have never discussed other matters nor made any statements on the phone outside the seven points mentioned above.

The information in the article does not entirely conform with our telephone conversation on Wednesday, May 14, 1997, at 3 p.m. with your reporter.
