PT Asih Eka Abadi clarifies

We would like to clarify a news article published in The Jakarta Post on April 3, 2001 regarding Woman robbed of her van. It is our understanding there may have been some confusion with regard this incident and the information was not totally correct.

Neldy Effren, male, 49 years of age, one of our company drivers was on an assignment to pick up a company nurse on April 1 at 5 a.m. at her home in Jl. Fatmawati. While waiting for the nurse to arrive, three armed strangers, ordered Neldy to give them access to the vehicle and at gunpoint demanded he drive them to the Pejompongan area.

On arrival the three men forced Neldy out and took off in the company's vehicle, a Kijang registered B 7136 PS. We would like to stress that the armed hijacking did not take place outside or anywhere near our facilities, and we are very pleased and thankful that our driver, Neldy Effren was unhurt in the incident and was able to return to our office safely.
