PSIS dismisses foreign players

SEMARANG (JP): Home favorite PSIS soccer club will discharge
two foreign players following its failure in the 2000 Bank
Mandiri national soccer league which has forced the relegation of
the 1999 league's champion to first division.

"We will dismiss Arilson Oliviera (from Brazil) and Anthony
Jonnah Ballah (from Cameron). Both players will be hired by
Jepara soccer club Persijap which is entering the main division,"
PSIS secretary-general Sutji Astoto told The Jakarta Post on
Wednesday.

Sutji added that PSIS could no longer pay the players'
salaries.

He said that PSIS would only comprise local players. "They are
players who are trained at the PSIS training center, such as
Restu Kartiko, Supriyono, Firman Sukmono, M. Ridwan and
Setyawan," he said. (har)
