Provinces told to protect disabled

BANDUNG: President Megawati Soekarnoputri instructed
provincial governments across the country on Friday to draft
bylaws that provide disabled people with access to facilities in
public places and building access.

"The bylaws are necessary as we have already enforced Law No.
22/1999 on people with disabilities," she said during her visit
here.

She said the government had also drafted a bill on a national
social security system (SJSN), which will cover people with
physical and mental disabilities. -- Antara.
