Protesting at Satya Wacana

SALATIGA, Central Java: At least 3,000 students, as well as
staff lecturers, at the Satya Wacana Christian University staged
a protest outside the office of Rector Jon JOI Ihalauw yesterday,
over the dismissal of lecturer Arief Budiman.

All but one of the eight schools were represented at the
demonstration. The lone exception was the School of Economics,
which is supporting the rector.

The other seven schools, led in the protest by their deans
were: Budi Lazarusli of the School of Law, Nugroho Adhi of the
School of Theology, Rukmadi Warsito of the School of Agriculture,
Ferryanto of the School of Electro-Technic, Bintoro Gunadi of the
School of Biology, Kris Timotius of the School of Science and
Mathematics, and I Made Markus of the School of Teaching Science.
