'Prospektif' reports fake price increase

JAKARTA: The general manager of business and investment magazine Prospektif, Budi Purnomo, has filed a complaint with the police regarding an unauthorized increase in the magazine's cover price from the official price of Rp 14,800 (US$1.6) to Rp 44,800.

However, he stopped short of accusing the printing company, PT Ikrar Mandiri, of involvement.

"The price has been changed for the last three weeks," Budi said.

The price of the magazine from book stalls and agents is stated to be Rp 44,800, but the price for subscribers is still Rp 14,800.

Lawyer Wayan Sudarmadja said that the case had tarnished the reputation of the publication. -- JP
