Prosecutors delay verdict advice
JAKARTA: The ad hoc human rights tribunal for the Tanjung Priok incident in 1984 was adjourned on Thursday as prosecutors were not ready to make a sentencing recommendation for former Army Special Forces chief Maj. Gen. Sriyanto Muntrasan.
The court gave the prosecutors until July 1 to prepare their recommendation.
Sriyanto, who was the operations chief for the military in North Jakarta at the time, was accused of letting his personnel commit human rights violations.
Earlier, the court sentenced former Jakarta Military Police chief Maj. Gen. Rudolf Butar-butar to 10 years in jail. -- JP
