Prosecutors briefed on human trafficking

YOGYAKARTA: As many as 41 senior prosecutors from 14 provinces attended a five-day seminar in Yogyakarta on human trafficking, prostitution and child sexual exploitation.

The seminar was aimed at helping the prosecutors better understand these types of cases and make the best use of existing laws to jail traffickers and ensure legal protection for victims.

The seminar, which was held with the support of the French government and the U.S. Department of Justice, was officially closed on Friday.

Also participating in the seminar were experts from France and the U.S., who explained the American and French legal models and best practices, and police officers from the Royal Malaysian Police to share their experiences in handling such cases successfully. -- JP
