Prosecutor wants lecturer to be jailed
JAKARTA (JP): A state prosecutor asked the East Jakarta
District Court yesterday to sentence a lecturer to two years jail
for misusing Rp 196,900,000 (US$82,041) of college funds.
Prosecutor Agung Dipo said Pieter Neke, a vice director of the
College of Management Science (STIM), in his capacity as
secretary of the committee of state examination, had embezzled
examination fees.
Agung said the student fees, totaling Rp 121,510,000, were not
deposited into the college's bank account but into his own.
Agung said Pieter also stole Rp 72,440,000 from the college
when he was managing a cooperation program between the school and
the Indonesian Academy of Secretary and Management (ASMI).
The prosecutor said the money was paid by Benny Tengker, the
ASMI director, to fund the academy employees' management
education program.
Pieter was also charged with misusing Rp 2,950,000 from a
funding to computerize examination marks, which was paid by Dajim
Sinaga, the examination committee chairman.
The session was adjourned until Jan. 6, 1997. (05)
