Police arrested a prosecutor of the Cibinong Prosecutor's Office in Bogor at an apartment in Kuningan, South Jakarta, for alleged possession of 187 grams of shabu-shabu (crystal methamphetamine) and 30 ecstasy pills.
The police also found two guns and six bullets in the suspect's apartment.
Jakarta Police drug squad chief Sr. Comr. Carlo Brix Tewu said on Friday that his men had arrested Hen, 40, a high-ranking prosecutor, following a tip-off from a suspected drug dealer, identified as Sub, who was arrested earlier.
The arrest was made on Thursday at about 8:30 p.m. The suspect is now under detention at the Jakarta Police headquarters.
Sub was arrested in Cilandak, also in South Jakarta, on Wednesday with 32 grams of shabu-shabu in his possession.
The police now suspect that Hen is linked to a syndicate.
"It's impossible to use that amount of drugs only for individual consumption and obtain that amount of drugs from street dealers. We are still questioning him to find out where he got the drugs," said a police investigator, who requested anonymity.
The source said that they were also verifying whether the guns were licensed.
Meanwhile, Attorney General's Office spokesman Soehandojo said that his office would not protect Hen if the police found sufficient evidence to charge him.
"Please, investigate him according to the law. We are not going to protect him," he said.
