Probe starts on W. Java KKN case
BANDUNG: The West Java Prosecutor's Office will question more than 100 witnesses in connection with alleged corrupt, collusive and nepotistic practices involving the West Java administration.
Muhammad Amari, assistant head of special crimes at the provincial prosecutors' office, said on Tuesday that his office would question more than 100 witnesses in connection with alleged embezzlement of street illumination tax and incorrect financial reports on the purchase of tents used for ceremonies.
"There are five cases involving alleged improper use of provincial funds, including funds belonging to foundations under the auspices of the administration, and illegal land exchange deals," Amari said.
He said Governor R. Nuriana was not among the four defendants as shown by the investigation statement signed by the head of the prosecutors' office, Harprileny Subiantoro, on Oct. 20.
He added that his office had sent letters to the Attorney General's (AG) Office and the Directorate General of Immigration, requesting that the Attorney General's Office ask the Directorate General of Immigration to prohibit the defendants from going abroad. (25/sur)
