Pro XL consumers file suit against the firm

JAKARTA: A group of 105 users of Pro XL prepaid card filed a lawsuit on Thursday against the card issuer PT Excelcomindo Pratama and the director general of post and telecommunication for increasing the pulse charges without prior notification.

They demanded the accused compensate Pro XL prepaid card consumers the amount of Rp 1 trillion and to change their communication billing system, which had caused its consumers to suffer financial losses.

According to the lawsuit, PT Excelcomindo had violated Law No. 8/1999 on consumer protection which requires companies to provide clear and accurate information about their products or services for their consumers.

Judge IDG Putra Jadnya adjourned the hearing for another two weeks. -- JP
