Pro-Emil sticker disrupts interview

JAKARTA (JP): Stickers lobbying Emil Salim's vice presidential bid turned out to be amusing yesterday.

The butt of the practical joke was a human rights campaigner, Clementino dos Reis Amaral, who has swung his full weight behind Emil.

After leaving a Golkar convention room in the People's Consultative Assembly building, he was stopped in his tracks when his interview with state-run TVRI was greatly disturbed by a chorus of raucous laughter coming from a herd of journalists near him.

Amaral did not realize what was so funny until someone removed a large sticker from the back of his shirt and stuck it on his chest for the TV cameraman to shoot.

The sticker had Emil Salim Pilihan Saya, or Emil Salim (is) my choice, inscribed on it. The sticker had been placed on his back while reporters jostled to asked him for comments.

"I hope TVRI won't air the interview without this sticker on my chest," he grinned. (pan)
