PRJ awards police for foiling crime

JAKARTA: The organizer of the Jakarta Fair (PRJ) in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, has given awards to police officers who foiled pickpockets or thieves during the event, which opened on June 17 and will be closed on July 18.

The awards were made on Thursday afternoon during a routine visit of security officers and police deployed to guard the event.

"I awarded police personnel who arrested pickpockets or thieves," project director Ralph Scheunemann was quoted as saying by Tempointeraktif news portal.

He added that the crime rate during the event was low, with only one or two pickpocketing cases per day.

The police accorded recognition were given vouchers to shop at the fair. -- JP
