Prison escapee recaptured
JAKARTA: Two days after fleeing Cipinang Prison in East Jakarta, defendant Farhat Ferdian Baihaki, 26, was arrested by the Jakarta Police on Thursday night, police said on Friday.
"The police found him hiding in a house belonging to his girlfriend's parents in Tambun, Bekasi," Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Tjiptono said on Friday.
Meanwhile, he said, Chief Brig. Piping Firdaus, 25, from the Jakarta Police department, who helped Farhat escape on Wednesday was being questioned by internal affairs officers.
Piping, who became acquainted with Farhat when the latter was at the Jakarta Police detention center as a suspect, visited Farhat on Wednesday at Cipinang.
The defendant took Piping's visiting card and escaped from the prison after he showed the card to the guards.
The prison guards later realized that one of the prisoners was gone and Piping must have helped him.
The guards contacted the police who later arrested Piping.--JP
