Priest died of overeating

JERUSALEM (Reuter): Israeli police say an autopsy on a Mexican priest found dead in Jerusalem's holiest church revealed the man had died of overeating.

Claudio Mateo Medina, 34, was found dead on Saturday in his room in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, the holiest Christian site in Jerusalem.

"An autopsy on the body of the priest found dead in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in the Old City found the man ingested excessive food and drink, collapsed in the stairwell and crawled to his room where he died," a police spokesman said.

Medina was a member of the Franciscan Order in Jerusalem until last year, when he left for a trip to Europe, an official of the order said.
