Price of premium gasoline down, diesel up

The Jakarta Post, Jakarta

State-owned oil and gas firm Pertamina announced on Saturday that the price of premium gasoline for September had dropped to Rp 1,690 per liter from Rp 1,735 in August.

The company, however, said that the price of automotive diesel in gas stations was up to Rp 1,360 per liter from Rp 1,325 the previous month.

It added that the price of other fuel products had also increased slightly, except for kerosene for household use, which was stable at Rp 600 per liter.

Pertamina gave no explanation for the price changes, but a company official was quoted earlier as saying that the price of premium gasoline for September could be lowered because of oversupply on the international market, while the price of automotive diesel had to be increased because of the weakening in the exchange rate of the rupiah against the U.S. dollar.

Pertamina and the government set the price of fuel products each month based on price developments in Singapore.

The following is the September price list for various fuel products for public and industrial use, except for the mining industry.
