Price of kerosene skyrockets

BANDUNG: Although the local government and the Gas and Oil
Products Businessmen's Association have set the retail price for
kerosene in West Java at Rp 435 per liter, its actual price has
reached Rp 700 per liter here.

The price of kerosene in Bungbulang, 80 kilometers south of
Garut, has reportedly reached Rp 800 per liter, West Java
Economic bureau chief Mustafa said on Monday.

"The normal market price is set at around Rp 500 per liter.
Therefore we will intensify market operations to lower the price
and inform dealers of the normal price for kerosene.

"Hopefully we can find the source of the problem, too,"
