Presidential address transcript

As President Abdurrahman Wahid made a denial to the press on
July 4, 2000, saying he had never said that the mastermind of
riots was in the House of People's Representatives/People's
Consultative Assembly, allow me to propose that to enable the
public to have an accurate knowledge of the content of this
address, the State Secretariat, in this case the head of the
Bureau for Presidential Press and Media, should publish an
official transcript of every address or statement made by the
President.

The publication of a transcript of a presidential address or
statement is necessary to avoid misunderstanding and denials as
well as counter-denials which will only leave the community
puzzled.

During the administration of the late president Sukarno, the
State Secretariat always published full transcripts of the
addresses delivered by president Sukarno in a modest stenciled
form, which the ministry of information would later publish in
its special edition publication.
