President Taxi clarifies

From Neraca

Referring to the letter in Neraca on July 6, 1994 in which the writer claimed that he had to pay Rp 20,000 to President Taxi for a ride from Gambir railway station to Cawang, we would like to respond as follows:

* President Taxi Company has an assigned parking facility in Gambir station, in which only taxis that meet all the requirements are allowed to pick up passengers from the station. The requirements are: the car must be in good condition, be well equipped, and the driver must have identity and be dressed in a uniform. So the writer should have used a qualified taxi with approved equipment, including a sound taxi meter.

* It is a shame that the writer did not give clear details concerning the taxi and its driver, although he had plenty of time to take note of them. This led us to believe that the writer had possibly written the letter with certain tendencies i.e to destroy the image of President Taxi, an unhealthy practice in free competition among taxi operators. PT President Taxi will be prepared to refund the cost, five times the amount that was paid by the writer providing he can give us the true identity of the taxi that had cheated him.

* We call on users of President Taxi vehicles to always make a note of the identity of each taxi they travel by, in order that we can take appropriate measures against any culprits.
