Prequalification for parking announced

JAKARTA (JP): The city administration announced last week that four private parking operators passed the second phase of the prequalification term of its partnership program.

Deputy head of the City Parking Agency, Sukri Bey, said two of the four companies would be selected with City council approval on Jan. 4.

The four companies, ranked according to their best proposals, are PT Adiwira Sembada, PT Mega Nusantara Masagena, PT Rodial Indonesia and PT Sumber Batu.

The bid was held as an effort to improve parking management. Out of 323 private parking operators in the city, only 50 applied.

Sukri said the screening of the first phase had resulted in 19 companies being selected due to their performance and financial management record. Further selection resulted in the four companies being chosen.

"The privatization program is aimed at increasing professionalism in technology, as well as investment and management in joint operations, so we can control each other," Sukri said.

Sukri predicted that the privatization program would increase the agency's revenue to Rp 53.5 billion a year, of which Rp 12 billion would be paid to the city administration.

The program will manage 517 on-street parking spots, covering about 127,856 square meters of parking area across the capital. (07)
