Pramono: Discussions to Determine Minimum Wage in Jakarta Are the Most Harmonious
Pramono made these remarks while attending the School Committee Communication Forum (FKKS) event at the Jakarta Timur Mayor’s office on Tuesday (5/5/2026). According to him, the dialogue process between the government, entrepreneurs, and workers in Jakarta has been running smoothly so far.
“Jakarta is one of the spaces for communication and discussion to determine the minimum wage (UMP) that is the most harmonious. Even if there are demonstrations, they are actually not targeting Jakarta,” Pramono said.
He assessed that this condition is inseparable from the good personal relationships with several labour leaders. Pramono even jokingly mentioned that he often receives complaints directly from labour representatives, including about the difficulty of meeting department heads.
“Sometimes they complain to me, ‘why is it hard to meet the department head?’ I am the one they complain to,” he said.
Pramono stated that the stability of industrial relations in Jakarta is one of the important factors in maintaining the investment climate and regional economic growth. He also affirmed that the government will continue to open spaces for dialogue so that various labour issues can be resolved constructively.
In addition, he hopes that the synergy between the government and workers will remain maintained in the future. According to him, the role of workers is very important in driving industrial progress while improving community welfare.
“With good communication, labour issues can be resolved together. This is what becomes Jakarta’s strength,” he stated.
