Prambors wins first softball league title

Prambors of Jakarta won on Sunday the title of the first Indonesian Softball League after defeating Citra Muda of Jakarta 4-3 in the grand final.

Prambors took a 3-0 lead in the first inning, but it was unable to score again until the fifth inning.

Citra Muda did not score until the fifth inning.

Both teams scored once in the sixth inning to make it 3-1, but Citra Muda scored two clutch runs in the top of the seventh inning to tie it at 3-3.

However, Prambors got the winning run in the bottom of the seventh win 4-3.

Tommy Pratomo of Prambors, who was also the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the first Softball League, was elated that his team won the title.

"It's a good result for our team and also for me who won the MVP," said the 36-year-old after the match.

Six teams participated in the first Indonesian Softball League. They were Citra Muda, Prambors, Bumi Asri of Bandung, NISP of Bandung, Gorgeous of Bandung and Sriti of Surabaya. The last two -- Gorgeous and Sriti -- were eliminated in the first round.

Four teams -- respectively in terms of seedings based on the results from the first round: Citra Muda, Prambors, Bumi Asri and NISP -- went to the final four on Saturday.

The finals used the double elimination system, in which leader Citra Muda met second ranked Prambors in the first match on Saturday with Prambors winning 11-2 to secure a berth in the grand final.

In the second match, third seeds Bumi Asri went against NISP, and NISP won 6-3.

Citra Muda then met NISP on Sunday morning with Citra Muda winning 11-5 to meet Prambors in the grand final. In the grand final, Prambors proved that it was the strongest team.
