PPP changes to white

PALEMBANG, South Sumatra: Election supervision officials were
surprised at a United Development Party rally Monday when most
supporters turned up in white T-shirts.

Few wore the party's green when they packed the Odion cinema
for a discussion by politicians Anwar Husein and Syarkowi Wijaya.

"We don't care about the color of our attire," a campaigner
told Antara. "What counts is our sympathy to the star (PPP
symbol)," she said.

The change of clothes may have seemed odd, but party officials
did not consider it worth discussing at the gathering. (pan)
