PPLi clarifies

The article Bogor councillors upset at PPLi published in The
Jakarta Post on March 19, page 8, contained several points that
may have created confusion among your readers, and hence must be
clarified.

First, regarding the suspicion that PT Prasadha Pamunah Limbah
Industri (PPLi) is concealing something in relation to the fire
incident of March 9; at this stage PPLi is still conducting a
comprehensive investigation to find the cause of the incident. We
will be releasing the conclusions as soon as they are available.

Regarding the claim that PPLi has violated the government
regulation on the handling of toxic water and the requirement for
transparency in handling toxic waste, please be informed that
PPLi's day-to-day operations have always complied with government
regulations, as well as Regional Environmental Management Agency
(Bapedal) regulation No. 1-5/1995 and Environment Impact Analysis
(AMDAL). The PPLi reported this information to the Office of the
State Ministry of the Environment as required by the regulations.
