Power plants in C. Java

JAKARTA (JP): The Central Java administration has promised to provide facilities to speed up the development of two giant power plants in Jepara and Cilacap.

The head of Central Java's investment coordinating board, Soedarsono, said over the weekend the realization of the projects would help maintain the province's economic growth at a minimum of 7 percent a year.

The Jepara power plant will be built by a joint venture between Indonesia's PT Tanjung Jati Power Company and an American company. It will cost about Rp 3.9 trillion (US$1.6 billion).

Construction will be completed by the end of the year.

The plant will employ 456 workers, including 36 expatriates.

The Cilacap power plant will cost Rp 1.4 trillion and be built by a consortium of Indonesia's PT Citra Kartika Daya and Japanese and Hong Kong investors.

Soedarsono was quoted by Antara as saying his office would prepare infrastructure and facilities to help the projects. (jsk)
