Post writers win awards
JAKARTA (JP): Two film reviews published by The Jakarta Post won prizes in a film critics contest held by Jakarta Media Communication.
Dini S. Djalal's article The American President: Staring at the White House through Rose-tinted Glasses, which was published on March 12, won the Rp 1,000,000 (US$435) first prize.
Another contributor to the newspaper, Parvathi Nayar Narayan, won a consolation prize of Rp 125,000 for her review Heat: Michael Mann's New Crime Thriller 'Heat' is On. Another five writers won consolation prizes.
Noorca M. Masardi from Jakarta Media Communication announced the winners on Tuesday. He said six members of the jury judged 184 articles on nine selected movies.
Runner-up for the contest was Tina Savitri from Femina women's magazine for her article While You were Sleeping: The dream of the ticket girl. She won Rp 750,000 in cash.
Second runner-up was B. Dharmawan from Hai magazine for his review Heat: Pacino versus de Niro, for which he received Rp 500,000 in cash.
The contest is held regularly by Jakarta Media Communication after every 10th movie preview for journalists. (yan)
