'Post' reporters win writing prizes

JAKARTA: Two reporters from The Jakarta Post won a writing competition on air pollution held by non-governmental organization Swisscontact, focusing on clean air projects.

Damar Harsanto won first prize with his article, How clean is the air that we breathe? while Bambang Nurbianto was awarded a consolation prize for Efficient transportation means cleaner air.

Accuracy, writing style and comprehension were among the criteria used to judge the articles, said member of the jury and head of the air pollution division of the Jakarta Environmental Agency (Bapedalda) Yusiono Anwar Supalal, on Monday.

The writing competition is part of a campaign to raise public awareness on reducing the use of motorized vehicles in order to minimize air pollution. -- JP
