Poso students short on cash
MAKASSAR, South Sulawesi: At least 500 university students from Poso fear they can no longer continue their studies as their parents have fled the riot-torn regency.
Sukri, an organizer of the Poso Students Task Force, said most of the students had not received any money from their parents since last month, following the violence in Poso.
Sukri said many of his friends had lost contact with their families.
He hoped the government or other donors would help them to finance their daily activities otherwise they would have to drop out of school.
"We cannot hope much from our parents," said Sukri. (27)
