Pornographic VCDs and LDs destroyed

PONTIANAK, West Kalimantan: The provincial film board
destroyed yesterday 522 video compact discs and laser discs which
were allegedly pornographic.

"We burned the discs which were confiscated during various
operations in Pontianak and the surrounding regencies," Tatang
Isya Iskandar, a spokesman for the provincial office of the
Ministry of Information, said.

Governor Aspar Aswin was quoted by Antara as saying that the
operation to eradicate illicit entertainment in the area was
aimed at saving the nation's young generation. (mds)
