Porn VCD student dismissed
INDONESIA: A female student of Padjadjaran University in Bandung, West Java, has been dismissed from the university after a pornographic VCD of her began circulating in the city.
Hadi Suprapto Arifin, a member of the ethics commission of the state university's communications school, said the student was dismissed upon the recommendation of the committee to the rector on Oct. 3.
Hadi said the student, identified as Nn, had met Suganda Priyatna, dean of the faculty, to provide clarification on the case and had admitted wrongdoing.
Copies of the VCD have reportedly been sold not only in shopping malls but also among students at the university since last August, at a price of Rp 5,000 per copy.
According to Nn's fellow students, the woman and her fiance filmed themselves having sex in a hotel in Bali as they marked a special anniversary of their relationship. They suspect the VCD was copied without the couple's permission when Nn's fiance, identified as AH, asked a friend to transfer the footage from a handycam cassette to a VCD for their personal viewing. -- JP
