Porn LDs seized

BANDUNG, West Java: Fifty-five laser discs containing
pornographic movies have been seized from several rental stores
on Jl. Buahbatu, Naripan and Lengkong Besar in an operation by
the local police.

Head of the City Police Col. Waliran was quoted by Antara as
saying that the raid was intended to reduce the number of laser
discs and video cassettes which show "promiscuous" or "blue"
films.

"If nothing is done, (such films) will gradually influence the
mentality and morals of society, especially the younger people,"
he said.

Several rental shops admitted they rent such films at Rp 5,000
(US$2.30) to Rp 20,000 per day.

The porn discs are currently being kept at the Bandung police
precinct and will be destroyed in front of local authority
