Poor fund embezzled

SEMARANG: A local councilor is alleging that some government
officials have embezzled the presidential funds intended for poor
people in several regencies in the province.

Djuhat Mahya, deputy chief of Commission A at the provincial
assembly, said people in Demak, Kendal, Sukoharjo and Cilacap
have complained about the misappropriation of the funds by
certain officials.

He said that it would be possible that such swindling could
occur in other areas if the government did not take any action.
