Pondok Kelapa named best subdistrict

Pondok Kelapa subdistrict in East Jakarta has been named as
the winner of the city village contest for the 1994 fiscal year
and will receive First Lady Tien Soeharto's trophy, a cash prize
of Rp 400,000 (US$184) and a village bank loan of Rp 5 million.

The announcement was made by the Deputy Governor for
Administrative Affairs, Idroes, in his office on Wednesday.

Second place went to Kebon Jeruk subdistrict, West Jakarta,
with East Tebet, South Jakarta, coming in third, South Petojo
subdistrict, Central Jakarta, coming in fourth and the Warakas
subdistrict, North Jakarta, finishing fifth. All of the chiefs of
the winning areas will have the honor of attending the Aug. 17
Independence Day celebrations at the State Palace.

Idroes said that Pondok Kelapa's subdistrict chief, along with
the heads of the Subdistrict Resilience Council (LKMD) and
chairperson of the Family Welfare Movement, will also receive a
Rp 22.5 million package for a haj pilgrimage to Mecca, Saudi
Arabia. (mds)
